Trip Planning with Harvest Hosts

From the Harvest Hosts Gallery
Traveling with our Arctic Fox trailer will be an entirely new experience for us.  Up to this point a road trip has meant driving our car or truck as far as possible each day and staying in hotels/motels along the way (as few as possible).  But our upcoming trip with a travel trailer will be different. Overnight stays at a Flying J truck stop or Walmart will be fine when we are pushing through to a destination, but we are wanting to stop and smell the ranunculus a bit in our travels to and from an RVICS project. Experience will tell, but we think we have found the perfect way to experience the journey to and from our RVICS assignments. Read on for the scoop.

We are very excited about becoming members of Harvest Hosts.  It is a network of wineries, farms and agri-tourism sites that invite self-contained RVers (that would be us) to visit and stay overnight for free! Our obligation is to enjoy the visit and to support our hosts business by making purchases, maybe helping out in some way, or just learning about and appreciating our hosts way of life.

The cost to join Harvest Hosts is very reasonable at $44 per year and there are discounted membership fees for annual auto renewal and multiple year memberships. We look forward to the locations we hope to visit on our way to the Alberta project. The number of RV spaces are limited at each location so there is the possibility that we will not be able to stay at a location as planned, but here are the Harvest Hosts sites we hope to stay at when heading North.

Near Orem, UT
Rowley's Southridge Farm - Features cherries, fruit, fruit products, asparagus, flowers, ice cream, canning and gardening.

Caldwell, ID (we will be spending two nights in the Nampa/Boise area visiting family)
Bitner Vinyards
Huston Vineyards

Rexburg, ID
Legacy Flight Museum - Exhibits of historical planes that still fly. We may be able to help with preparations for their air show on June 18th.

Drumheller, AB
Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site - Canada's most complete historic coal mine and the country's last standing wooden coal tipple. Mine bldgs, train, tours.

Olds,AB
Huntcliff Diary - Dairy farm with no on-site sales. Owners like visitors and enjoy introducing them to their Jersey & Holstein cows.
