Setting Up the Raspberry Pi 3 Media Server

Raspberry Pi 3 and Enclosure Ready for Setup
It was not the highest priority task but it was hard to resist working on this fun project once the RPi 3 and Flirc case arrived from Amazon.

The finished RPi with Wi-Fi dongle is shown with an iPhone 6 to give a sense of how small these wonderful little computers are.

Creating the OSMC image on an SD card went without a hitch.  MP4 files are stored on a 128GB USB thumb drive.  We should be able to put 50 or more full length movies on this thumb drive.  This system not only has low power requirements it has no moving parts!

Before long we were testing the system on the TV in the trailer.  It works amazingly well. The Kodi remote control App can be seen on the iPhone which allows navigation without having to have yet another device to keep track of.

The next step is to wire the TV directly to 12VDC and install the amp and speakers when they arrive.
